Audio Systems: removing/installing car stereo, car cd player, installing car stereo

I have a 2001 subaru legacy with a tape deck in it. i recently bought a car cd player from my friend hoping to put it in my car.  how will i know if it is compatible with my subaru stereo system. And if it is, what do i need to install it?

Unless the CD stereo was from a 2001 Subaru it won't plug in directly. You will need the harness adapter that connects to the factory connector in the dash so that you can splice the wires together from the stereo to the adapter pig tail wires.
