Audio Systems: AMPS, external amplifier, power speakers

Question
HEY!
I just installed a new car deck. but when i put it too loud the back of the car deck gets hot after a couple of minutes. so i am not sure if that is normal or not. on the car deck it says that it can handle 200 watts. I havent totally  mounted it in yet so i can touch its back and tell if it is getting hot. so i dont know if i need an amplifier or somethin .
thanks for advance

Answer
Ellyas,
Head units that power speakers do typically get really hot. We don't notice though, because the head unit is mounted in the dashboard. More often than not, there is a decent sized space behind the head unit to allow for heat dissapation. While having an external amplifier to power your speakers is not required, it is most definitely a good idea. It's not a problem I would worry about unless you've mounted the head unit, and notice that your speakers start cutting out. And that won't happen unless it's really hot, which is a possibility, but not likely. I hope this answers your question.

Best Of Luck,
Alan
