Audio Systems: Replacement for 1994 Maxima Bose system, bose system, bose stereo

Question
Recently, my 1994 Maxima GXE Bose system nixie display went blank, radio operates, then shuts down for days, comes back on, with no display.  I brought it to my local car repair place, the radio again worked for days, then shut down. When I was looking for a system to replace the Bose, a dealer said I would have to replace all speakers or buy a Bose integration kit at $200. Is this true, or can I get my Bose repaired?

Answer
Richard,
In many of these stereos that my shop repairs, the most common problem that I find is defective solder connections. The Bose stereo uses external amp/s for the audio. To replace the Bose stereo with an after market stereo you will need an adapter to connect the new stereo to the factory amp/s.
