Audio Systems: Honda Prelude Radio Error, honda prelude, focus error

My 1999 Honda Prelude has the factory stereo system in it with the original Honda single in dash cd player/radio unit. The other day I tried to put a CD in it and an error was displayed on the screen, E-00.  I went to the owners manual and it lists the error as a system error or a focus error.  The corrective action is to ensure the cd was inserted correctly and to make sure it is clean.  I double checked it to make sure the cd was inserted correctly and it was clean, only a couple days old.  I tried 5 or 6 other cds too, and they all gave the same error.  What is the problem?  Is there a way to fix it?

The lens in the laser pick up may be very dirty/dusty or it could have smoke on the lens if anyone smokes in your vehicle. A good manual cleaning of the lens with a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol may help with the no play problem.
