Audio Systems: Honda CD Player PEO error code, stock honda, laser pickup

Hi,
My stock Honda Accord 2000 Radio/CD player is giving me ulcers!

Most often it is giving me a PEO error when I go to play a CD. The problem gets worse when the vehicle sits in the sun, or the heater is used for a while. It will keep playing the CD until the car is switched off; and then nothing will get it going until the next day. I took the unit apart, and got as far as the lens assembly, which I cleaned (from the top only).

The CD player still acts up. For some strange reason it seems to prefer a certain type of CD-R disks, but usually there is no ryme or reason to its selection of playable CD's.

If you think it's a weak lazer assembly, where can I pick one up.

One way or another I am going to fix this player, or it is going into the trash in pieces.

Thanks for your help,
J.P.

Joe,
The laser pickup may be weak and it will need to be replaced. If you take the unit apart and locate the laser pickup unit, simply give me the numbers off the pickup and I will let you know if I have one in stock and the approx cost for a new laser pickup. Also give me all the numbers off the sticker on the stereo.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for getting back to me so fast ....

The unit is in pieces on my dining room table!

The numerals on the laser pickup assembly are

M9023K  or
H9023K (it is not very clear)

underneath the above there are
4795

and to the right of this group is (small) 2 (large) 33.

On the CD portion of the unit, ie. the complete CD assembly, the stamped code is
55DA0108W1

On the whole Radio/CD unit chassis is stamped
M3G421011

There is also a label with the following information:

MODEL NO. 39100-S84-C210
REF. NO. CQ-JH1811Z
SERIAL NO. M98L309105

After much thought, I think that perhaps the lazer lens cannot focus to the surface of the CD disk, ie. the lens is not moving freely up and down, and the problem gets worse as the unit heats up.

Fixing this unit has become a challange with me, but one way or another this unit will live again!

Again, thanks a lot for your help.

Answer
Joe,
The stereo is built by Fujitsu ten, you may want to contact a Fujitsu parts dealer and run the number of the laser and of the deck assembly by them to see if any repair parts are available. I don't have any info for replacement parts for this stereo.
