Audio Systems: Radio problems, pioneer cd player, clock setting

Question
I just installed my pioneer cd player into an 1987 suburban.  I had to run a hot wire from the fuse box because when I tested the wires to hook up to there was no power coming from any of them.  I got the radio to work but know when I shut the vehicle off I lose my clock setting and radio settings what do I need to do so it will keep its memory.  also what color of wire is the clock and station settings

Answer
Tiffany,
In the factory stereo wire harness you should have two 12 volt supply lines, one 12 volts at all times and a second that goes to 12 volts with the key on. A good thing to have for testing is a 12 volt test lamp/probe. The red wire for the new stereo should go to the switched 12 volt source and the yellow wire must go to a 12 hot at all times supply for station memory.
