Audio Systems: home stereo help protection, inadequate ventilation, protection circuits

Question
I have a denon avr70 home theater system and when i turn it on it goes into "PROTECTION" mode. I have changed all of the fuses and it still does not work.
Please help!
Craig

Answer
Dear Craig,

Denon's protection circuits are thermally (heat) activated. They generally kick in when the unit has overheated because (1) there is inadequate ventilation, (2) the unit's been played at too high a volume for too long, or (3) a shorted circuit causes a power surge. If you have (1) made sure you have adequate ventilation, (2) let the unit cool down, and (3) made sure you completely powered the unit down (meaning "off"--not just in "standby" mode), and the circuits are still activated when you power the unit back up, it most likely means that there is damage inside the unit. Denon recommends that you contact a factory authorized repair facility, which is pretty much what I would recommend.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,
