Audio Systems: Car Steroe acting strange, mercury mountaineer, car steroe

Hi,  I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer with a factory installed stereo. Recently the stereo has been acting strange. The stations will suddenly start changing or scanning, the radio will be off and all of a sudden it will read "no cd" or it will turn itself on and eject a cd for no reason.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when these strange behaviors will start or stop, but it is happening more and more often. Any ideas?

It's possible that defective connections inside the stereo are the cause of the power problem. Some troubleshooting of the power distribution circuits should lead you to the faulty connection, or failing components.
