Audio Systems: Chevy CD Player, chev cav, laser pickup

04 Chev Cav. CD Player tries to read, shows track 1 but does not move on it...displays ERR and then turns radio on..I have disconnected the battery for a min or so, no help, I used a new CD cleaning disk with a diagnostic utility and it still says ERR. What would you suggest?

The problem may be that the laser lens in the pick up assembly is very dirty/dusty, or if anyone smokes in your vehicle the lens may be covered with smoke. A cleaning CD won't work because the laser has to see the CD first before the disc will spin to clean the lens. You may want to have a repair shop do a manual cleaning of the laser lens. If a cleaning doesn't help the laser pickup may be defective.
