could you please tell me the colour codes( which wire does what and the colour) for the plug going into the rear mounted amp in this truck as the amp is not working and we are going to replace it with aftermarket amp ( the truck has the cassette deck in the dash and the 6 pack CD changer in the centre console

as you requested the number off the amp is xf3f 18c808-aa (fsfa265809)dated 2000 8 30 when the amp is open the numbers on the circut board are;yw4f14a608-ba (pwb8850) and the plug going in to the amp has the following wires;

green with purple line (thick wire)
black with green line (thick wire)
dark green with purple line (thin wire)
red with black line (thin wire)
I cant remember the last wire combo

going to the speaker is a black with green line and a black with white line  hope this helps both of us!!!

thanking you in advance

Answer
Tom,
The large green wire may be the 12 volt supply line to the amp and the large black wire is the ground wire. The two small wires are the input to the amp. The amp may have one more wire that is used to turn the amp on when the stereo is on. Use a 12 volt test lamp and test for 12 volts on the large green/purple wire and also test for a wire that goes to 12 volts when the stereo is turned on.
