Audio Systems: power antenna makes speakers noisy, olds cutlass supreme, olds cutlass

Question
I replaced the factory radio in my 1994 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a deck that has a CD player. I used a wire harness for GM replacement that matched up exactly with the old wires and new stereo. The only problem is that if I hook up the wire for the power antenna, it goes up but makes a terrible loud hum in the rear speakers which were not replaced. I'm using the new deck with the antenna power disconnected but of course can't get good reception on all stations. Can you think of anything besides replacing the antenna with a stationary one.
Thank you - Jared

Answer
Jared,
If you still have the original stereo try plugging it back in and see if the antenna when going up or down will make the noise in the speakers. If the original stereo works OK the problem may be with the way the connector is wired for the new stereo, or with something inside the new stereo.
