Audio Systems: i have a cd/casette radio..., dodge grand caravan, auto salvage yard

Question
i have a cd/casette radio from our dodge grand caravan 2000 that has stopped working.  The clock is functional but nothing else on the radio works.  Would it be better to repair or buy new? It just went out all of a sudden.

thanks for your advise!

Answer
Rob,
If you compare the cost of a new stereo vs a replacement stereo from an auto salvage yard you may have some sticker shock. A new stereo from a dealer may cost around $500-$600 a stereo from a salvage yard may cost about $75 to $100 On the average a repair for this make and year stereo could be around the same as the salvage yard stereo, however when my shop repairs a stereo we give it a complete check out along with a warranty.
