Audio Systems: Recordable DVD, rw format, dear paul

Question
Do you know which is the better format for a DVD recorder DVD+R or DVD-R

Answer
Dear Paul,

The DVD+R/RW format is slightly updated version of DVD-R/RW. Both the DVD-R and DVD+R can be written to only once. Supposedly you can do other work with the +R disc while recording to it, tho' this suggests you'd be using a PC instead of a stand along DVD recorder. The +R format is allegedly faster and has greater backwards capability with older DVD players. I've looked at a few comparisions, and the variances appear to be slight. I suggest getting one (1) of each, recording the same program to each, and comparing their compatability with your equipment.

You can read a technical description of their differences at http://www.proactionmedia.com/dvd_media_formats.htm

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com.

Kindest regards,
