Audio Systems: why does my fuse keep blowing out, gauge wire, audiobahn speakers

Question
i have a 93 intrepid with 2 15" audiobahn speakers. everything is wired right so what would cause my fuse to blow out in the amp. its got good ground.could it be that i need a thicker gauge wire. im using 8 gauge. what do u think? it only blows out when the radio  is turned up loud.

Answer
Rob,
Make sure that you have the correct amperage fuse installed. You may also want the check the install instructions to see what size wire is called for the power to the amp. A good rule to use with amps is to use a wire that is about the same size as the connection block on the amp. The power and ground wires must be the same (ga.) wire and the ground wire must be kept as short as possible.
