Audio Systems: Best Connections, sony grand wega, component video cables

Question
Hello Kevin, I have just bought a Sony Grand Wega DLP TV and a Sony progressive scan DVD.
In the past I have used the S-Vhs cable together with the red and white cables to give me the best picture. Upon reading the Sony manual, It seems to suggest the connections be 'Component Video cable as opposed to the S-VHS cable... Which is the best way to go.. Thanx  Norm R.

Answer
Hey, Norm!

Sorry, couldn't resist...

To get the very most out of your DVD player's progressive scan feature, use component video cables. S-video, a huge improvement over composite video, was a big step. Component video is a huge step over S-video. Go for it.

BTW, component video cables have three leads, coded in blue, red, and green. Radio Shack sells excellent gold-plated ones in 6' (Part No. 15-1563, $29.99) and 12' (Part No. 15-1564, $49.99) lengths. Radio Shack also sells Monster Cable at much, much higher prices. I don't recommend them because the performance isn't any better, and they cost a ton more--their 3' cable is the same price as the RS 12' cable. Go figure.

Good luck. Wow, a Grand WEGA DLP. How I envy you. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin
