Audio Systems: SPEAKERS WONT LAST, toyota solara, boston acoustics

The factory JBL radio in my 98 Toyota Solara keeps eating up the rear speakers. They seem to last about a year, then after that they just loose volume. And we are'nt playing the radio load. The last set where two hundred dollar Boston Acoustics. Could I have a problem with the head unit? Every sounds normal when the speakers are new.

What exactly happens to the speakers, does the voice coil in the speaker burn up or does the cone rip or tear? If your vehicle has a power amp installed the amp may be over powering the speakers.
