Audio Systems: no sound from radio when headlights are on, electrical wiring system, 1988 jaguar xj6

Question
I have a 1988 Jaguar XJ6 and I recently install a aftermarket radio/cd in the car. The radio works fine and I get good sound from all the speakers but when I turn on my headlights or parking lights, that is when the problem occuries I get no sound, now the LED is lit and the radio/cd still plays but no sound. Now I have talked to other techicians about the problem and none of there ideas have worked all of my wires are connected to the diagram that I was sent from the place I got the radio from and I have checked them over and over again. Now the techicians (from the place I got the radio from) tell me that since my car is a 1988 Jaguar XJ6 that there is a unique electrical wiring system in my car and that I have one of my 12volt wire hook up is  wrong. I have read this web site before and I even tried your advance you given someone else who was having the same problem as me and I hook both 12volt wires from the radio to the constant 12volt from the car and I still no sound please help me it sucks not being able to listen to my own radio/cd at night and please help me understand what this techicians mine when they say unique wiring system in my car.

Answer
Houston,
On some stereos they will have a cell phone mute line that when this wire goes hot(12 volts) the sound will mute out. Double check all the wires to be sure that the cell phone mute wire is not connected. You may/might have the mute wire connected to the head light circuit and when the lights come on out goes the sound? If you wouldn't mind, give me some more details about the make and model of the new stereo and about any wiring adapters that you may have used. If you have a diagram of the factory stereo connector, please send that to my direct Email address so I can look it over.
