Audio Systems: Connect iPod to GM Bose, gm bose, stock gm

Question
Tom --

Thanks for your reply.  Is there a way to tell if the back of the head unit has the aux input jack without taking it out of the vehicle?  Do you know where diagrams of the unit may be found?

Thanks again for your help.

I have a 2003 Z71 Suburban with a stock GM Bose / 6 Disc / XM head unit.  I would like to connect my iPod to the unit w/o using a FM Modulator.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer -
John,
If the stereo in your vehicle has the 6 disc changer built into the head unit you may be able to plug the iPod into the aux input jack on the rear of the stereo if the stereo has the jack. If the aux jack is on the rear of the stereo you will need the aux input adapter to plug your iPod into to have the iPod audio come through your stereo.

Answer
John,
The service manual for the vehical may show a photo of the rear of the factory stereo. You can try contacting your local GM dealer to see if they can show you a photo of the rear view of the stereo. They may tell you though that they need the complete model number of the factory stereo. About the fastest way would be to pull the stereo out of the dash and look on the rear of it. You should write down the model and serial number, the people that sell the adapters will need them.
