Audio Systems: Volvo S60 cd player, volvo s60, rubbing alcohol

My '01 Volvo S60 came with the single cd/cassette/am/fm system.  When I try to insert a cd, it will try to sense for 5-'0 seconds and then show an error message and eject the cd.  Sometimes (the exception) I can bump the tracks from one to the next and it will start to play.  Is there anything I can do?

Most likely the lens in the laser pick up is dirty. Since you can bump the track button and make the unit play, you may want to try a wet type CD cleaning disc. If the cleaning disc won't spin due to the dirty lens you might have to do a manual cleaning of the laser lens. To clean the lens you can use a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol and gently rub the lens to clean it.
