Audio Systems: TYPE OF KEY NEEDED FOR REMOTE STARTER, remote starter, esle

Question
JUST HAD A REMOTE STARTER PUT IN.  THEY TOOK ONE KEY AND HID IT IN THE CAR, NOW I HAVE ONLY ONE KEY WITH THE CHIP. MY QUESTION IS , DO I NEED TO GO OUT AND GET ANOTHER KEY WITH THE CHIP OR WILL THE REMOTE STARTER WORK WITH A REGULAR HARDWARE STORE MADE KEY. IF I NEED THE CHIP KEY, WHERE DO YOU RECOMMEND I GO.

Answer

Hi Sam,
There is no need to YELL AT ME.

What you need to do is talk this over with whomever installed it.
They know what type it is, ect.
eg... I have no idea what make/model/type or what vehicle it is in (what it's options are ect) among other things that I would have to know in order to possibly help you effectively.
What type of key is used may be labeled in the box the kit came in (with the literature for the starter kit). Alternately, you might find some info at the manufacturers website (if one exists).
If the person that installed it cannot help you, you are in NEED of a qualified person that can. I would not be the 1st choice as the main deal here is seeing what you have to work with in person.

If all esle fails:
You might find that Mr Nagy (allexperts) can help you more effectively on general security issues, but he will likely need the additional specific information as well.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael
