Audio Systems: BMW CD changer, bmw cd, wiring harnes

My wife bought a BMW cd changer for me as a Christmas present off ebay.  It is a factory BMW unit and plugged into the wiring harnes on my 1997 328I.  The radio displays "NO DISCS".  Unfortunately she bought it in early November and the seller won't honor the so-called "Full satisfaction guaranteed" so we are stuck with a non-functioning CD changer.  What type of repair would get this unit working?  Thanks.

The NO DISCS may be due to the lens in the laser pick up being very dirty, or the laser pick up could be defective. In many of the CD changers that my shop repairs, the main cause of the no discs error is a dirty lens.
