Audio Systems: Radio Code, mitsubishi mirage, stock radio

Question
I bought a '99 mitsubishi mirage from a used car dealership and the radio has an anti-theft device on it.  it is a stock radio.  i recently replaced the battery, and with the power source disconnection, the radio now reads 'CODE'.  i know if i bought the car from a Mits. dealership, i'd have received a card with a code on it.  i have tried calling mitsubishi dealers around me and they have not called me back, or they can't answer the question till a weekday, etc.  my question is, can they give me the code to the radio by the VIN number? or can the code only be looked up by the serial number located on the back of the radio?

Thanks for your time.

Answer
Erica,
You may want to look through all the paper work that is in your vehicle and look to see if the previous owner wrote down the access code in the glove box/console. You can purchase the access code from,  radio-code.com  you will need the VIN plus the model and serial number of the stereo.
