Audio Systems: Classic Car Stereo, rca outputs, rear speakers

Question
Hey Tom,

I'm installing a stereo system in my restored 68' Mustang.  My
stereo options are very limited due to the need to use a shaft/
dial unit so that I don't need to do any dash cutting.

The stereo I have is an Optimus, 4 channel, 22 Watts x 2.  I
would like to drive 6 speakers with this, 2 rears, 2 doors, and 2
dash.  I am planning on using 1 amplifer to drive the 4 front
speakers, and 1 amplifier to drive the two rear speakers.

My question is, if the stereo system has one set of Preamp
Outputs; how do I connect to two different amplifiers?  Also, if I
can do this, can I maintain the use of Fader and Balance
controls?

Many Thanks!!
Doug

Answer
Doug,
This can be easily done by using two high level (speaker)to low level (RCA)adapters. Use one for the front amp and the second to the rear amp. Or you could use one adapter for/to the front amp and use the RCA outputs on the stereo for the rear amp. Either set up will still give you control of the balance and fader.
