Audio Systems: Honda Stock Stereo, cigarette lighter fuse, fuse box

Question
I was installing an aftermarket cd player into a 97 Honda Accord and was unsuccessful, Thinkin it was the player itself, Anyway, I when I put the stock tape/radio deck back into the dash and connected everything....it didn't work, the cigarette lighter and everything stopped workin and the sock player won't work period...I checked all of the fuses in the fuse box next to the driver side door and no fuses were blown, the stock stereo worked pre-hand to the whole installation attempt and so did the cigarette lighter...and after seeing that all the fuses werent blown, I was completely boggled as to why nothing worked anymore....Please help me, cuz it wasn't my car and I don't want to have to pay an assload to get this guys car fixed....I've installed plenty of cd players before and never ran into this problem....please help me --- briangerbetz@adelphia.net

Answer
Brian,
If you have the owners book for this vehicle, look up the location of the fuse for the cigarette lighter. On some vehicles the fuse for it is under the hood. When installing an after market stereo in most vehicles all you need to connect the new stereo is two 12 volt sources and a ground wire. Disreguard all the wires for the dimmer circuits and lighting. If you can locate the cigarette lighter fuse you may want to call your local Honda dealer and ask the service dept where the fuse is located.
