Audio Systems: VW BOSE RADIO SELFLOCKED, vw golf 1, bose radio

My VW Golf 1.998 has a Bose radio code protected. The radio is locked since several months, showing SAFE mode indication all time.
I was trying to unlock putting the four digits code following the manual's instructions, but the radio never changes his SAFE indication.
Do you think something is wrong with the panel buttoms?
Do you think if an electronic technician would disconnect the code protection system and restore the radio to work.

Try disconnecting the cars battery for a few minutes then reconnect it. This may reset the stereo for entering the access code. Re-enter the correct access code by following the instructions in the owners manual. If the stereo still won't function, it may need to be reprogrammed.
