Audio Systems: Pioneer CD player pd-m430, pioneer cd player, home remedy

Question
I have a 6-disc cd cartridge that became stuck in the player when one of the discs was not set in the cd tray properly. The cartridge became stuck in the unit, but my husband took it apart and removed the cartridge. After putting it back together it did not work, of course.  The cartridge keeps popping out of the unit instead of engaging. Is there a home remedy or are we out of luck?  Is it worth repairing? The unit is part of our stereo system we purchased in 1990-91.
Thank you.

Answer
Lisa,
If any prying was done to remove the stuck cartridge the CD changer will need to be repaired and realigned. In many cases two CDs can sometimes be loaded at the same time and the player will jam up. If you carefully remove the CDs from the play position by moving them back into the cartridge the player will work again. I will see from time to time a defective sensor that can cause the CDs to not load into the play position.
