Audio Systems: Car electrical system, battery isolator, pac corporation

Question
I have a portable Car Dvd player (one of those DVD in a bag systems).
I noticed that when I start the car the power going to the cigarette lighter stop flowing momentarilly. This stops the DVD player and forces me to turn it back on and start from the begginning.

What can I do to maintain power to my DVD even when I restart the car. I have thought of a DVD battery but my unit does not take one. I have thought of an inverter and UPS battery backup combination but I have hear that Inerter's create alot of heat. Any ideas or sugesstions in fiquring out the best option?

Answer

Hi Peter,

Any device that uses electricity will produce heat, so bearing that in mind, you can use an inverter if it is properly installed ( a fused connection directly to the vehicles' battery) where it can get some ventilation. This in effect, is a UPS (up to the limit of your battery). If you want even more ability to run it  AND start your car, use a second battery along with a key-switched battery isolator (PAC corporation).

You will not need a very large one so that is a plus.

Walmart likely has something that will do in their automotive section.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael
