Audio Systems: Kenwood excelon deck repair, flat ribbon cable, panel connector

Question
I have a 92 honda accord with an aftermarket  Kenwood excelon cd deck. I'm not sure of the model or year, I think I bought it 4 years ago.It worked well for a couple of years until one day it got stuck on the radio station and volume that it was set at and nothing else works.  Nothing is displayed, none of the buttons work and I cannot adjust the volume or station. It's been stuck like that for a few months now. My question is that I am having a hard time finding somewhere to bring it to have it looked at. Aren't there any shops where I can bring my car into and have someone look at it and repair it? I live in Minneapolis, MN. Also do you have any idea why it might be doing this. Its a very nice deck and I would like to try to get it fixed rather than buy a new one.  Thanks

Answer
Gina,
If your stereo has a movable face plate the problem may be due to a faulty ribbon cable that connects the front panel connector to the main circuit board. This flat ribbon cable is a cable that fails quite often. Please contact me by direct Email for info on having your CD stereo repaired.
