Audio Systems: Speakers cutting in and out at low volumes, pioneer head unit, wire connections

Question
I have a 3 amp system that was installed some 9 years ago. I have recently noticed that the Soundstream Reference amps cut the right front speaker sound at low volumes. When I turn volume way up speaker cuts back on. The same happens with the bass, low volume no sound or distortion, high volume = good bass. All speaker wire connections are solid and speakers are not blown. Is it age of amps or Pioneer head unit?

Answer
sounds like the sensitivity of the inputs has changed for some reason. 9 years is a lot for car audio, considering the temperature changes, vibration, that the amps have to deal with. you might try upping the gain on the amps slightly, but i'd try opening the amps, and spraying the gain controls with some good contact/control cleaner, working the controls vigorously and setting levels again. hope this helps, g.......
