Audio Systems: 1999 CRV CD player, honda crv, cd encoder

Ia m having a problem with my 1999 Honda CRV CD player. While the radio plays great, the CD player has statics noise (on &off).  I tried differrent Cd and used the CD claener before but with any sucess.  Any idea what casusing it?  please advise. Thanks

Most likely the CD assembly itself may be failing. I have also found on several of these Honda CD players that capacitors on the CD encoder circuit board will become leaky and this will cause the static noise.
