Audio Systems: antenna, antenna mast, polo vw

Question
I have a SEAT Ibiza (Spanish car, basically like a VW Golf or Polo, VW makes the motor).  I had to replace the antenna with a generic store bought one.  In order to remove the antenna I had to cut the cable. I mounted the new antenna which basically has a metal screw sticking out on the car interior upon which a nut is tightened.  This was no problem.

Now when I cut off the old antenna wire there were two wires, inside what I thought would just be the antenna (coaxial ?(shielded wire).  One wire is indeed the antenna, the other looks like a power wire (?).  When I mounted the two wires to the antenna mast (the screw) with another nut, the fuse keeps blowing on the radio.

Helpppp!

Answer
John,
I don't have any info on that vehicle, however the small wire may be a power wire for some kind of a signal amp in or near the original antenna. try disconnecting the small wire from the antenna.
