Audio Systems: 98 Ford Explorer, stock stereo, stock system

Question
Tom, Trying to intsall a new stereo to replace the stock stereo in my 98 Explorer XLT.
New system has only on plug recepticle in its back. Old system had two plugs and the one plug only had one wire connected to it. We have the new system wired up but it is not receiving any power. What is the 2nd plug in the stock system for and should it be connected to the new system?

Answer
Mark,
There are several different stereo options for the 98 Exployers, If you give me the complete model number/s off the sticker on the original factory stereo I can look up the numbers to see exactly what system the vehicle has in it. I can then tell you more about the factory wiring.
