Audio Systems: Honda Accord CD Changer problem, honda accord, disc changers

Hi Tom,
I have a Honda Accord 2000 with in-dash 6 CD changer. Lately it started giving problem while loading, ejecting and playing CDs. I hear a grinding sound during these operation and operations fail and display shows "Err". If I try this several times or stop the car (only way to cut off the complete power supply to the CD changer) then sometimes it works.
I suspect that there is something wrong with CD switching mechanism in the CD player.
I would appreciate your help in understanding this problem and whether I can repair it.

On many of these 6 disc changers I find that the very cheap parts inside will break and jam up the changer mechanics and this may be why you hear the grinding noise. I can tell you by working on these units that no repair parts are available for the changer, you will have to replace the changer deck assembly complete in the stereo.
