Audio Systems: radio code problems, radio code, memory chip

Question
Hi Tom,
I got my first car nearly a month ago and the battery died. After that the radio would work and wanted a code. I called the old owner, pulled the radio out, and got the code. My problem is that i cant put in the radio code because before i knew about it i tried random codes, and now it reads as an error message.  I tried to jump my car again to reset the radio but it didn't work. Do you know how to get rid of the error message?

Answer
Marie,
By putting in wrong codes you may have flashed or drained the memory chip. You can try removing the stereo and leave it sit for a day and then reconnect it and try the code again, this will only work if the code is still set into the memory chip.
