Audio Systems: Toyota Paseo, engine coolant, antenna wire

Question
Hi I own a 1993 toyota paseo and would like to install a new manual antenna. I am having a problem trying to change the antenna and do not know what the antenna cable is connected to and how to unconnect it and pull it out. And then after, hopefully replace it with a new one that was just purchased. My next question is my engine coolant leaves a brownish residue is this normal or does is need to be changed. Thanxs

Answer
Oded,
You will need to trace the antenna wire/cable from where it is mounted back to the stereo. Pull the stereo out of the dash and you will see where the antenna wire/cable is plugged into the stereo. A little trick that I use when completely replacing a defectice antenna and cable is to pull the wire/cable out of the stereo and then tie a long piece of heavy string onto it. When you pull the wire/cable out of the fender you will also pull the string with it. Once you have the string pulled out of the fender all you have to do is to tie the string on the new antenna wire/cable and use electrical tape to keep the end from binding or catching on anything when you pull it back towards the stereo. As for the anti-freeze being a brown color, it sounds like the coolant needs to be changed. After you drain the coolant you should refill the cooling system with plain water and put in a engine and radiator flush chemical and run the engine according to the directions and after the engine cools down drain and flush the cooling system several times to flush out any remaining chemical. Lastly, refill with coolant and you should be in good shape.
