Audio Systems: CD player displays err 3, laser pickup, toyoty

My 2002 Toyoty Camry CD player displays "err 3".  When I feed in the CD, it will take it but it keeps trying to read the CD and, after three tries, I get the "err 3" display.  What can I do?

Most likely the error 3 is coming up because the laser cannot see the CD in the player unit. This could be due to a very dirty lens or a defective laser pickup assembly. You may want to have the lens cleaned manually to see if that helps.
