I have a Kenwood Excelon about 2 years. Afew days ago all my lights on the button panel went out. A day after that the volume wheel will not work, nor can i change from cd to tuner or pause the cd. All the buttons on the left of the panel work fine. Any insight on whet may be wrong with this?
Thankz

Answer -
Andy,
If this stereo has a movable faceplate, the problem may be due to a broken ribbon cable that connects the front panel to the main circuit board.

DO you know of anyplace where this ribbon cable might be able available on the internet. Also it is possable to replace this myself?
Thankz

Answer
Andy,
Search around for Kenwood parts dealers, they should be able to supply the ribbon cable bases on the discription. You may be able to replace the ribbon cable if in fact one or more of the conductors in it are broken. Replacing the ribbon cable does require that you use a soldering iron to carefully solder the end pads of the cable onto the connector for the face plate. mechanically installing the ribbon cable will take some time and patience.
