Audio Systems: 97 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Stereo, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

Question
Hi Tom
I have just recieved a 97 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. The stereo and the cd changer work fine but the sound that comes out of the speakers is all treble and no bass "no matter what you do to make adjustments it sounds the same"What can I do?Also I have several more questions.I was thinking about installing a Pioneer DEH-4600MP but I was wandering if they made any kits to keep the factory cd changer and the back seat controls in conjunction with Pioneer stereo. And last I know the eddie bauer comes with decent set of speakers and I was thinking about changing them to a set pioneer 3 way 6x8 speakers but if there was'nt going to be much of a difference in sound and power if not then I did not want to bother taking the door panels a part and changing them.I really appriciate any input on these questions. Thank You So Much

Answer
Bill,
The 97 Ford vehicle stereo may be a premium system that uses an external amp to drive the speakers. The problem may be due to the amp section that amps the lower frequencies may not be working like it should. As for the changer, there are some adapters that will adapt different makes together, however I would need to have all the model numbers off the existing stereo and CD changer. I have seen some adapters that will allow you to use the rear seat controls on an after market stereo, however the aftermarket stereo will need to have an external control interface jack.
