Audio Systems: Volume too low!, 1987 toyota cressida, toyota cressida

Question
Hi,
I recently bought a 1987 Toyota Cressida with a stock stereo (tape and tuner). Actually, it had pretty good sound, until i tried to play a tape on it. Now, the radio works, but the sound is way too low even if i have the volume turned all the way up. What could be the problem, and, is it repairable?

Answer
Leydi,
The problem may be due to a fault with the tape radio control switching. I have seen problems with the tape mute circuits that will cause the main audio to be very low. Some troubleshooting of the audio switching circuits should turn up the problem.
