I have a question about my stock 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo CD radio. The radio has the theft deterant system. Can this radio work independently from the car if I hook it up to a 12V power supply.

Yes, the stereo will work after you remove it from the vehicle. If the stereo is still connected in the vehicle you may want to contact your local GM dealer and ask the service dept how to see the access code on the display before you dissconnect it from the vehicle. You may need this access code to reactivate the stereo after you hook it up on your work bench with a 12 volt power supply.
