Audio Systems: Infinity J-30 Bose system problem, work bench, laser lens

Question
My Bose CD player plays intermittently - some days it won't play CD's at all; some days it's fine. It will play some CD's all the time and others only sometimes. (even brand new ones sometimes won't play!) It doesn't skip/repeat but will jump in and out while playing - like it's not reading the data. It happens at a dead stop not just while rolling. It usually gives me "err" message when it's acting funny and spits my CDs back out. Sometimes it also "freezes" in the middle of a song and holds the CD. Sometimes it also jumps thru a song and tracks randomly. Can it be fixed?

Answer
Brian,
The problem may be that the laser lens is dirty or weak. A problem that I sometimes find on these units is that the digital process circuit board will need alignment. It may be an easy fix, however without putting the unit on the work bench and powering it up and making some tests on the unit it would be hard to say.
