Audio Systems: Cables ?, monster cables, connecting a dvd player

Question
is S-video better or component cables better for connecting a DVD Player to a TV or a TV to an Amplifier ? Any difference between Monster Cables and Acoustic Research brand ? Thanks

Answer
Dear Natasha,

Allegedly, component video (three video leads--not composite the one, yellow video lead) gives a higher resolution picture because each "component" of the signal is carried separately. Second is S-video. I've seen both, and to tell you the truth, unless you have a very large HDTV or extraordinary vision, the differences are minute at best. Still, if you have component video capability, use it. At least you won't have to wonder what you might be missing.

Ah, cables. IMHO, there are little if any measurable differences in cable brands--no matter what their manufacturers say. I would use neither, buy Radio Shack gold-plated connectors, and save a bunch of money.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin
