Audio Systems: Sony Stereo Instalation, jeep cherokee classic, dashboard lights

I just bout a sone stereo to put in my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic. Got it in Steroe works great, but i lost all my dashboard lights. There was a wire clipped on to the back of the stock stereo, which i did nothing with on the new one? is this the problem if so why?

Most likely you clipped or shorted out the dash dimming circuit which caused the dash lamp fuse to blow. On the Sony stereo you don't have a dimmer wire for the display lamps. you may want to ask your local Jeep dealer for a print out of the factory stereo connector so you disconnect any wires from the sony stereo that may be connected to any dimmer wires.
