Audio Systems: Hello, I seem to have a problem..., sony xbr, cables red

Hello,
I seem to have a problem of hooking my TV to my Audio/DVDplayer Rreciver

What i have is the following:
SONY XBR HDTV, ONKYO DVD changer/Audio Reciever
Playstation 2, Component Cables for Playstation2, THX audio cables (Red, and Blue).

Here is what i want:
I've read the manuals, and that didn't help me btw.
I want to be able to listen to my TV through my Audio Reciever, i want to be able to be able to hear my PS2 from my Audio Reciever.

Here is what i've done, i've hooked the THX audio from my reciever to my TV, i switched the reciever to the TV mode so i can listen to the TV, but it didn't work.

Next, i hooked 3 of the Playstation2 component cables into my audio reciever, but couldn't connect the other two since there is no place for them. So of course i got a picture only with out sound.

So what i did next is i hooked the playstaion2 component cables (all 5 of them) to my TV, i finally got sound, but it wasn't from the Audio reciever like i wanted.

How can I do it so that my playstation is hooked up to TV and in the same time be able to hear it from my audio reciever and not my TV?

basically i just want my audio reciever to play my TV sounds, and Playstation2 sounds.
just how can i make that happen?
please help, this has been really stressfull for me.

Dear Tj,

I can imagine the stress. I think we're going to run everything through your receiver, which is basically what you want: audio through the receiver's speakers. However, I can't do that until I know what model Onkyo receiver you have. Can you give me that, please?

BTW, we're not going to connect anything except video to your TV. TV audio works fine for its own speakers, but little else. Do you have a VCR?
