Audio Systems: Van radio problem, plymouth voyager, chrysler plymouth

Question
Hello Tom, I have a 1994 plymouth voyager with the factory am fm cassete radio. When I turn the radio on sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If I leave the radio on it will come on and go off at random. Sometimes it is days before it will come on but won't work for long. Sometimes if I turn the key to the acc.position I will get a loud pop through the speakers even with the radio switch in the off position.I thought of replacing the radio but have an idea that the problem may be in the ignition switch or somewere else. Any Ideas ? Thanks Tom Lennon

Answer
Tom,
On many of these early Chrysler/plymouth radios the snap type on/off switch wears out too quickly. Please give me the complete model number of your stereo and I will check to see if I still have a replacement on/off switch.
