Hey Tom,

I just recieved a new Pioneer CD deck for my 1992 buick lesabre. I took the stock Delco radio out, hooked up the adapter for the after market kit (I made sure every wire was lined up correctly). When I plugged it in to make sure it worked, before i skrewed everything in, the car went nuts. I get a weird beeping noise, like when you leave the headlights on, the AC won't work, and the stereo doesn't turn on, some lights are on on it, but it doesn't work. HELP ME PLEASE!

Joseph,
The only wires that you should connect for the new pioneer is the yellow wire, the red wire and the ground. You won't need any of the dimmer wires and other control wires. Make sure that the red wire is connected to the adapter connector on the switched ignition wire and the yellow wire (memory)is connected to the 12 volt hot at all times wire.

Tom,

It turned out to be a fuse. Like I said, I had all the wiring correct, nothing crossed, and only the necessary. I opened up the fuse box and went one by one testing the resistance. It was the eleventh one, but thankfully the only one. Replaced it and everything works great now. The only problem is it won't fit into the space. The wires keep getting bunched up and won't allow me to push it back all the way. I looked for a way to come from under the dash board to pull the wires down or something but I couldn't get to it. Thanks for you quick replies.

Answer
Joseph,
A little trick that I use when I have a tight fitting stereo due to the wiring is to untangle the wires and strighten them out. I next use electrical tape or small tywraps to bind the wires together so that they are in a long bundle. With the stereo out of the dash I use a fish tape to pull up a string from under the dash and tie it to the wire bunch. Lastly when you insert the stereo all you have to do is to lightly pull the wires down and out of the way as you push the stereo into the dash . This method works most of the time.
