Audio Systems: 1992 Honda Accord CD Changer, cd changer control, 1992 honda accord

Question
I disconnected the battery and had to enter the code which unlocked the stereo, however, the CD Changer control unit has display "E-05" and wouldn't do anything.  The radio part works fine.
I called Honda and the service technician seems to think I should just try and recode it until it works, which is rather cumbersome for me.

Any help would be appreciated.

To make the CD changer work again, try this step. I have to sometimes do this to make the changer work after reinstalling a repaired stereo and entering the access code. With the battery disconnected, pull out the plug on the CD changer and reconnect the battery. Next, enter the access code to make the stereo turn on/operate. Lastly, turn off the stereo and plug the CD changer cable back into the changer. Try turning on the stereo and check the CD changer to see if it will work as normal.
