Audio Systems: buzz thru aux in cd player, ground loop isolator, hz sine wave

Question
I have recently bought a 7 in screen for my car.  the problem that i have been having is this, i have a power inverter d/c to a/c (which i have tried three of) and when i plugg my play station into it, i have an adapter to my alpine cd player so that i can run the audio thru it.  But when i do this it just has a loud buzz, that is louder than the play station sound.  I have tried three different inverters, new rca cables and running my inverters straight to the battery, So please help me

Answer
Joe,
Most likely the invertor is the cause of the noise. Most inexpensive invertors will put out a modified 60 HZ (cycle)sine wave that more resembles a square wave with the corners cut off. Many pieces of electronic equipment will not work correctly unless they have a true and almost perfect 110 volt AC 60 HZ sine wave supplied to them. Just to be sure double check all your connections. To test for invertor noise, try using a small set of head phones and plug them into the audio output on the play station cable and then listen for noise/humming. The problem may not be due to the invertor running the play station, rather a ground loop fault between the play station and the Alpine stereo. You may want to purchase a ground loop isolator and install it in the audio cables between the play station and the Alpine RCA inputs.
