Audio Systems: No Sound?, honda accord lxi, 89 honda accord

Question
I have a '89 Honda Accord LXI and I have just removed the factorey radio and I am trying to install a '98 Kenwood stereo. I have got a stereo connector for the Honda and connected all of the wires that match but for some reason there is no sound coming out of the speakers at all, yet it seems like all the other parts on the stereo work. Please help me find the problem.the Factory stereo model is (P/N:39100-SE3-A210-M1)(REF. NO:CM3908)- The Kenwood is(KDC-S2009)-I dont know if this helps but the kenwood corporation # is(Y22-5430-14)and the Number is(80707689)

Answer

Chris,
Thanx for the pertinant information.

Well, after reading the manual for that model, it DOES have internal power amps. :(

Provided you have good spakers AND wiring, this means that the Kenwood is damaged, not setup right (see fader and balance controls) or not wired correctly.

This unit also has an attenuator (mute) feature, be sure that is not on.
Additionally, be sure that you have selected the correct source since it has an optional cd changer.

If you check all controls and they are 'fine', you might want to get that unit benchtested or test it yourself  OUT of the vehicle.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael
