Audio Systems: 98 Chevy Cavalier Cd system, chevy cavalier, pioneer stereo

Question
tom, thanks.. i dont think hers is a premium cd system but it may be.. i will have to take a look at that..
i was just wondering where he friend said it is going to cost 80 bucks..
i know u have to go to like walmart or something by the mounting brackets so it will fit in the dash and i usually buy the adapter like u said..
also cheap..
just wanted to make sure it was not going to be like 80 bucks
thanks again

Austin,
Installing the new Pioneer stereo shouldn't be an expensive deal if the old factory CD stereo wasn't a premium system with an external amp mounted somewhere in the vehicle. If this factory system is a standard non premium system, connecting the new Pioneer will be easy. You will need the adapter connector that you connect to the factory stereo connector in the dash. All you have to do now is to connect wire for wire according to the wiring instructions with the stereo and with the adapter, such as speakers-power and ground. You can purchase the adapter at most larger auto parts outlets, including BestBuy, CircuitCity etc. The cost for the wiring adapter should be around $10-$15 If you are not sure about the factory stereo system being a premium system or not you may want to either call the local dealer or look in the owners manual for the vehicle.

Answer
Austin,
The plastic dash adapter for the Cavalier will cost about$18-$20 give or take a little. This adapter will allow you to install the newer CD stereo into the dash and hold the new stereo securely in place. If you give me the complete model number of the factory stereo I will look over the service data to find out what stereo system the vehicle has in it.
